An opportunity arose with only 14 days notice for a solicitor’s firm to host a private audience with a leading MP The Rt Hon Sir Vince Cable.

I was tasked with finding a suitable venue, designing invitations, collating a guest list (based on the required attendees) organising a photographer for the day, liaising with caterers (top quality afternoon tea was decided upon) and dealing with the PR team of the speaker regarding arrival times and the signing of his book.

Despite the short notice, the room was full of business owners who were keen to hear the MP’s thoughts on business matters. Following the talk and a very full-on Q&A session, the speaker was good enough to sign his book for the guests.

Following the event a press release was sent out to local media with the photographs that were taken on the day and it was reported in the press. This press coverage was invaluable to the solicitors’ firm, who made sure it was communicated widely on social media and on their website.
