When Tricia Peters (Cheshire Business Events) and I get our heads together to plan the next set of Women in Business NW events our aims is that our guests will enjoy the lunches as much as we enjoy organising and hosting them, and I think we can say that they definitely did at last week’s Manchester lunch at The Castlefield Rooms.
As with all our events, we have beautiful artisan stalls selling beauty products, jewellery, clothing and accessories, which gives our ladies the perfect excuse to shop while networking.
Tricia and I welcomed 50 ladies to the first Manchester lunch of the year, with 5 table sponsors and over TEN raffle prizes kindly donated by our sponsors and stall holders.
The atmosphere in the room was very lively and we all enjoyed listening to the table sponsors address the room to talk about their business for two minutes – which is the new added value for our sponsors that we introduced this year.
We were then served a delicious two course lunch with tea and coffee during which all our ladies had the opportunity to talk about their business, their plans, who they are looking to work with, during the round table networking session.
At each lunch we have a charity raffle, which this time was in aid of Prevent Breast Cancer. Our very generous ladies raised over £230 for the charity, which was accepted by Angela Wrobel from the charity.
I was absolutely delighted to be the guest speaker for the day and spoke about the observations I have made during the last two years of my networking experience. I’ve seen a number of ways to network which have been great – and an even larger number not so great – which I enjoy telling to the ladies to amuse them. I’m a big believer in making people laugh when you’re giving advice as I think this helps associate positive emotion with positive actions…..at least, I think they’re amusing.
What I have noticed is the more excited I become as I talk the more southern I become and I end up starting anecodotes with “Cor blimey, you wouldn’t believe what I watched so and so do….” NOT that I’m cockney (I’m from Bedford) but apparently there’s little difference once you get past Birmingham!
As we said goodbye to our ladies, there was a definite excitement and enthusiasm in the air, and it was so lovely to get so many positive comments from the audience about my talk. I love to help businesses, whether it’s through organising their events to help with their business development, organising networking events to introduce businesses to each other, or through sharing my thoughts and observations, and my passion for what I do shines through and fills others too.
Our next Manchester event will be sorted soon – details will be on the ‘Coming Events’ page but in the meantime we have the following ladies event in the calendar:
All events can be booked via the ‘Coming Events’ page so please continue to support the events and help us deliver excellent networking opportunities.
See you at the next one!
