I am extremely excited to have teamed up with Ali Wheeler of Feelgood to offer a new way to network and keep fit at the same time – by netwalking. We will be running this event at 11am on the third Wednesday of every month, with the next one booked for 15 March at Delamere Forest.
The inaugural Netwalk Your Network meeting took place on 15 February at Delamere Forest – with the initiative proving so popular with local businesses that original plans to limit numbers to 15 were soon forgotten as booking continued to come in.
I came up with the idea of netwalking after Ali and I decided to get out into the open air to discuss the way forward for our 2 businesses, rather than just doing it over a coffee or from behind
As we made our way up Frodsham Hill in the crisp morning sunshine I suddenly thought: ‘Wouldn’t this be a great way to get some exercise while still conducting business.’ As soon as I mentioned the idea to Ali she was all for it, especially as being active and maintaining a good work/life balance is what her business is all about.
Ali loves the idea because of the significant benefits to your health if you are active, and even more so when you add in your work as well. Combining walking and meeting provides a healthy space in which people are likely to be more creative, productive, efficient and happy with their work.
Typically, we sit for around 9.3 hours a day, much of that at work; if people attended one 30-minute walking meeting a day, they would easily meet the recommended guidelines for a healthy, active lifestyle. Employers should be prioritising the health and wellbeing of their staff because it reduces sickness, increases productivity and, most importantly, means they have employees who Feelgood.
We are both are determined to encourage business owners/staff to switch off the computer for a couple of hours and get out into the fresh air. Netwalk Your Network is about realising that not all business needs to be conducted around a table – it can be done simultaneously with enjoying an outdoor activity, and as such encourages forging connections that are as potentially good for your health as they are for your wealth!
The next meeting is on Wednesday 15 March at 11am at Delamere Forest. If you would like to join us and other
businesses please email email@example.com to book your place.
